Tech Frederick Receives Additional Funding through the EARN Grant from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation

May 9, 2016 – Frederick, MD – Tech Frederick, a Maryland-based coalition of employer organizations that promote the technology industry, is pleased to announce that they received nearly $150,000 in additional funding through the EARN Grant from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. The additional funding will be used to provide a Strategic Workforce Training program that aims to increase sustainable employment in Frederick’s IT Industry by advancing the skills of unemployed and incumbent workers through.
EARN Maryland invests in strategic industry partnerships from key economic sectors in every region. This grant provides continued funding for the second half of a two-part training program. The partnership has been offering free IT training to the Frederick community since October, 2015. Training courses are currently open to the Frederick IT Community for enrollment and include: Web Design and Development, Business Development and Marketing Automation. The additional funding enabled through this grant enables Tech Frederick to offer more training courses aimed to address industry-wide skill gaps. Tech Frederick’s goal is to bridge the gap and provide training in these areas to employ qualified candidates and inspire positive change in the Frederick IT Industry. The Tech Frederick Partnership also will continue to provide more networking and career enhancing opportunities to foster relationships and employment opportunities.

Tech Frederick is a coalition of locally respected and recognized employer organizations and community members united to advance the technology industry in Frederick, MD. Orases, local software and website development company, has assumed a project leadership role. Other Tech Frederick and Community Partners include: Archnid Works Inc., City of Frederick Department of Economic Development, Commputercations, Computer Frontiers, DMS Inc., Frederick Community College, Frederick County Business Development & Retention, Frederick County Workforce Services, Hildebrand Limparis & Associates, ManPower, Regent Education, Swift Systems, The Frederick News Post and Yakabod.

Tech Frederick is a joint venture of The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development, Frederick County Office of Economic Development, the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, and the local tech community. The organization supports local IT business owners providing advocacy, communication, networking and developing partnerships. Tech Frederick is a peer group for people in the IT industry to bring area experts together to work towards a common mission and set of objectives. There is no membership fee; anyone in the IT field is invited to participate.
